The 7Seven Names of Christmas

On this Christmas Eve I think that it is important to talk about why I celebrate Christmas.  When we are younger we are told the Christmas Story at church or by our parents, somehow though it all melts together with the lights, Santa, Rudolph, Snowmen, Trees, Decorations, and even Christmas Pageants.  We know the story so well that we begin to stop listening, not because we don’t care but because we have heard it so many times before.

I was thinking about how I wanted to share the Birth of Jesus on seventhingstosay.blog.  Then I thought about how news of his birth was shared, angels, Wiseman, and Shepherds.  Some of the same people who heard the good news shared the good news, they told friends and neighbors even Kings.  Today I am going to list the names or titles that scripture said were used in sharing the news of Jesus.

  1. Jesus– You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. Luke 1:31
  2. Son of the Most High– He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. Luke 1:32
  3. Immanuel– The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means “God with us”) Matthew 1:23
  4. Savior– Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
  5. Christ the LordToday in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11
  6. King– and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”  Matthew 2: 2
  7. Messiah– When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. Matthew 2:4

Merry Christmas!
